On Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Laziness

Well, obviously I have not fulfilled my Christmas break resolution of doing lots of lovely posts while I have a month with no schoolwork.  I will, however, try to get a wee bit written over the next few days in-between de-Christmasing the house, packing, and writing for the Rambler.

Christmas break has been lovely, barring the three days of pain following my wisdom teeth surgery.  Decorating for Christmas, baking for our Epiphany party, no homework, time to read P.G. Wodehouse and G.K. Chesterton and hang out with friends.  I was able to spend quality time with my sister, too, which was awesome.

One thing that I did do over break was go to the movie theatre for The Adventures of Tintin.  For once, I can heartily recommend a movie!  It is not a children's cartoon although it may be advertised as such; there is a bit more than I would find appropriate for anyone under ten or so.  That said, the computer animation is incredibly good, so good that occasionally I had to remind myself that it was animated and not real.  The detail was perfect.  On top of that, the movie was almost exactly perfect in its interpretation of the books and the whole world of Tintin.  Best movie version of a book that I have seen, beating by far Peter Jackson's work on the Lord of the Rings trilogy.  Movie tickets are ridiculously expensive but this was almost worth it.  Definitely it was worth seeing on the big screen.

I honestly cannot wait to return to school!  Christendom is like a drug - one gets addicted to the culture and the society of the school.  It has been wonderful  over the last semester.  I miss being able to just walk three minutes across campus to do what I need to do, or just wander over to a friend's room or the library; to walk over to the chapel for early Mass every morning.  My mind has been challenged so much since August that coming back home and not having any reading to do or classes to attend has been a very different transition.  Ah, well, here's a bit of a random post.  I'll post something vaguely intelligent later today, perhaps.
